She is a registered Substance Use Disorder Professional in the state of Washington as well as a Washington State-approved clinical supervisor. Karen has been in recovery since 2012 and understands the sometimes complex road in recovery for those individuals who experience substance use disorders, sex and love addiction, trauma, and mood and anxiety disorders like PTSD. She believes the path of wellness involves addressing all of the issues that get in the way of a wholly lived life with quality sobriety. Sometimes there is past trauma that has not been dealt with, and becomes a trigger for use of substances or sexually compulsive behaviors. Other times, individuals have undertreated mood and anxiety disorders that can also trigger these destructive behaviors. Whether you are new to recovery, or you have been sober for awhile and need some help with sexual compulsivity, that is causing damage to you, your mental and emotional health, and your relationships, Karen is here to walk along side of you on your road of recovery.

Suzanne brings deep professional and personal experiences to her work with clients, integrating her “first career” as a teacher and researcher in the social sciences with her own lived experiences with addiction, trauma, and recovery.
Suzanne prioritizes creating safe spaces for clients where they can feel understood, accepted, and heard. She approaches clients with respect, humility, and a deep appreciation for their strengths – including having the courage to reach out for help with their current circumstances. Suzanne believes that positive, transformative change and growth are possible after relational trauma because she has experienced this herself.
Working with Suzanne you can expect an open, non-shaming, collaborative stance; a clinical approach that is trauma informed and tailored to the client’s needs, a research-oriented practitioner who uses empirically tested tools and interventions, and a passionate advocate for equity and social justice.
